Weltstar Stud is a small boutique stud in Hillcrest KZN, founded by owner Carin and her late partner Peter. They met in Mongolia where Carin competed in the world’s longest horse race “The Mongol Derby”. Peter was one of the veterinarians monitoring the race.
Carin quit her job as a rider and yard manager overseas and moved to South Africa. They imported a top selection of broodmares and stallions from established breeders in Germany. These are the foundation horses of the stud. "Our aim was to pick bloodlines that are not well represented in the country, to complement the fantastic breeding that is already happening locally."
Their objective is to keep it personal with all owners and horses and to produce only quality and not quantity so that each horse can get as much time and care as it needs to fulfill its maximum potential.
Peter tragically passed away in 2020 and Carin now runs the stud herself with plans to relocate to KZN midlands in 2023
We only breed 3-4 foals a year and spend hours and hours researching to find the best possible matches out there. We put a lot of time, effort and money into our breeding program, which we see is paying off in the offspring we´ve produced so far.
At Weltstar Stud we like to offer our owners good value for money services, together with the satisfaction of knowing that their horses are in experienced and caring hands.
We offer full boarding and foaling down services for your mare. In cooperation with Coastal Vet we offer stabling for your mare during inseminations, scans and embryo transfers.
